Training Press Releases » Kirklees Council have received the accolade of 'Best Example of Supporting Learners Online' at the 2007 eLearning Awards. The Kirklees Council Learning and Development department took the gong for their training program developed to train users in new email applications.
Senior Learning and Development Officer Chris Allan says "eLearning has been a fantastic advancement for us. We are very proud that our training program has been recognized for this achievement."
Kirklees Council use learning technology specialists BdM Development to advise on eLearning solutions. BdM Development supplied the authoring tool Lectora, from Trivantis, as it had been identified as best fitting their needs. BdM Development also provided training to ensure Kirklees Council use Lectora to its best advantage.
Kirklees Council has an 18,000 strong workforce responsible for council operations for Huddersfield and surrounding areas. Chris and his colleagues are responsible for developing and delivering eLearning to the large and geographically distributed workforce.
Now delivered online, such training programs as this would have formerly been largely classroom-led. Gaining an eLearning award is just one indication that Kirklees is becoming a leading local government eLearning practitioner.
"We congratulate Chris and his team on their achievement," said Alistair Bovill, Director of BdM Development. "It is great to see Kirklees Council leading the way in e-government and highlighting the many advantages that eLearning software like Lectora has to offer the public sector."
Continuing on from the success of the email training program, Kirklees has used Lectora to create a plethora of other online learning tools including a vital training and testing procedure for those involved in the recruitment process.
